I see the Labour controlled council has decided it's OK to just pocket the fine even though they were illegal.
They know most caught out by inadequate signs were from out of town and will not hear of the ruling.
If you received a fine you have to ask them to refund it.

Almost equally corrupt is this online newspaper which has a hilarious policy of giving huge negative scores to any comments against the Labour Council policies!

It is disgusting that they have declared that the fines were illegal and that you have to apply for a refund surely they have all the card details of the people that have paid and that it is a simple matter of refunding to that card. Luckily I never went over the bridge so I didn't get fined, however I know a few people that did and I will be making them aware that they will be able to apply for their money back.

Quite possibly, but again they are relying on people not knowing or not bothering to claim.

Now there is an opportunity for an "ambulance chasing lawyer"
Making a little profit and claiming back (how ever many) peoples fines en mass,
for a small percentage ;)

They'd make far more money on individual cases.
We don't have the same "class action" system as the US :-P

Still a good idea though, as wouldn't they also be able to claim their fees back, if they won the case.
Which actually doesn't seem to be in dispute anyway?

There'd be no cases.
Fill in a form (possibly online), and bingo.....Money's returned.
I fail to see what the HooHaa's about tbh :-)
 
Next time people drive past my house they will have to pay £30.
After a few days it will be declared illegal; it's OK I'll refund the £30 if they apply on my special form.

Indeed, of course you do own the entire road on which you live, and therefore have the right to restrict (or at least attempt to restrict) vehicular access to it, yes?
 
Yes, it's a field with a right of way through it.
I'll just put up official looking signs then everyone will have to pay even though it has no basis in law.
They can always claim it back later if they want to dispute it.

I might have cameras too in case anyone is sneaky and tries to get over without paying.

Didn't the the York CC leader used to sell cameras in Dixons in York.

There have been repeated calls for his resignation.
