Lencarta studio competition winner, January

This is the monthly competition to win a day in our studio, open to all provided that the shot was taken with Lencarta equipment.
January's winner was Jamie Rowland, with this stunning shot taken to promote a Rugby League match between the Royal Marines and the Parachute Regiment.

Jamie used one of our Atom 360's, each fitted with a Profold Strip Softbox, each side of the subject, with a third Atom 360, fitted with a snoot, playing on the rugby ball.

Jamie wins a day in our studio. Personally, I love this shot with it's use of hard rimlighting, and as the vote was unanimous it's clear that the other judges love it too.To me, this is what controlling light is about.

That's a terrific shot, the lighting really suits the subject. I bet the match itself has the scope to be ..... how shall we say a bit feisty

I just suggested on the improvement for the forum thread something like this. Never knew you done such a thing, good idea and a great shot to win. Glad I'm not in his way haha

The guy who did this shot is ex military, he's a great photographer and also has his contacts - and a military sense of humour...
Apparently this rugby match involves all 3 services and there was a half joke that the winners will either be Army or Royal Navy, both of which play rugby league - so what about the RAF then? Nah, they all play Rugby Union

Anyway, on a personal level I'm looking forward to him using our studio for his shoot, I think I'll learn something that day.
