Right then,

I have decided that i am going to go for the lencarta lighting setup but am undecided whether to get the SmartFlash Twin Softbox Starter Kit or the SmartFlash 3-head Softbox/umbrella Kit, The Lights will be mostly used for family portrait shoots and will possibly bring it along to a wedding or 2 also, would it be worth going for the 3 lights or just stick to the 2 light setup.

Cheers

I started with 2 bowens heads and soon came to realise I'd need a third head. I've just added a Lencarta smartflash to the setup.

I would get at least 3 lights, gives you a lot more flexibility.

I use the Elite Pro lights, I started off with two but then realised that I needed a third and now it's perfect for my fashion and beauty shoots. I'm now considering buying the Safari so that I can easily do location shoots and soon take them to weddings.

Maybe the Safari kit is also something to think about so you do not need to worry about finding mains power at weddings, and it's generally a lot more convenient, theres no mess of cables and extensions everywhere.

I've just this last week got the 3 head smartflash kit. Great bit of kit. Easy to use and reliable so far.
Good company to use. The 5 in 1 reflectors were out of stock though. Hoping mine will arrive soon.

Kev.

I've got the Smartflash's I bought a 1 twin kits then bought a 2nd twin kit a couple weeks ago :)

Now have 4 Smart flashes and all the gubbins that come with them :) its always handy to have more lights to play with you can't have too many but you can have too few ;).

+1 for customer support :) Gary is a legend & is on my Owe a beer list.

Can someone tell me if the specialised background reflector would be ok to use with just the one light in front of the subject. Here is the thing i'm talking about http://www.lencarta.com/light-shaping-tools/mod005-background-reflector/index.php

Also if Garry is about - Does this item just attach onto one of the smartflash lights?

Yes, it just fits to the front, in place of the ordinary reflector. out of stock at the moment, new delivery due on 7th Jan.

One will be enough for a head & shoulders, 2 will be better for full length and necessary for anything bigger than that, the ensure even distribution of light.

Thanks again Garry. By the way i've been reading through all your tutorials on the Photolearn website and have been picking up loads of useful info. Thanks for the link a while back.
