Anyone here bought any Lencarta flash heads - accessories etc ...

Im curremtly looking for lighting kits for my new 3 room studio but not as yet certain what manufacturer to plump for ...

Looks like their website is having troubles at the present time ...

Just wondered what the quality - prices and after sales service was like ... they seem to only sell from a website ... shops dont seem to stock them ..

In fact their website lists their business office as only 10 minutes from where i live ..

no problems with Lencarta here - recommended.

The shop part of the Lencarta website is still down, but is making progress and I'm told that it will definately be working again by Monday, probably sooner.

There have been major problems with it that involved moving it to a new server and lots of techie stuff that I don't understand.

Anyone know the exact pricing of the Elite Pro 300 and 600 kits ?

whats their after sales service like ?

hope its more reliable than their website .. :)

Probably best to wait another day (at most) until the webshop is working again, there are a lot of different kit options available, basically you can build your own kit and see the price change as you go.

As for customer service, the Lencarta testimonials page is still working...
As for the office address, near your home - it's just that, a registered office - no stock and nothing to see there I'm afraid. You can see and play with almost everything at my studio by arrangement, and Photomart have quite a few items at their London showroom.

sites down again Garry, has someone been practicing websdesign on your live site again???

No. As you know, there have been ongoing problems that the previous webmaster seemed to be unable to deal with, so the site development has now been moved to a professional firm which will be completely redesigning it so that it performs and looks as it should. This will take some time and development will not, in future, be on the live site.

The current problem (which has inconvenienced a lot of customers and which has obviously caused lost sales) may be related to changes which we have been told were made to the site coding that caused it to be unstable. Our new webmaster tried to install a backup copy on the server, but that didn't work and so they have installed it to their own server on a temporary basis, on a sub domain. Right now we're waiting for the DNS to resolve to the temporary domain and have been told that it will definately be working by tomorrow (Monday), possibly later today.

Keith, a mix of personal reasons, and client feedback really:

1) No real difference in light quality, no matter what or how I'm shooting. The final results are indistinguishable.
2) Running costs (Go price up modelling and main bulbs for each)
3) The Lencarta heads have been better received by clients making use of the studio. Students especially like them, and that isn't down to cost difference because that isn't discussed. They like the way they handle from an interface and response point of view.
The printed manuals for the heads are available to the clients, but I've never been asked for a Lencarta one to date, only the Bowens.

One of my main personal reasons is the after sales care. I've never had a problem with Bowens after sales, always courteous and they do what they say. Pretty much the same as most really.
Lencarta I've found to be quite different. I had a problem with my Safari generator in the middle of a food shoot in Preston. Not a biggie really, as I managed to finish it with speedlights. My main concern was an upcoming wedding brochure shoot for the Hilton chain. Garry reassured me he'd get things sorted in time and he was better than his word.
Honestly? that kind of service and confidence in the equipment is worth more to me than the lower cost of the equipment. If the brand costs were reversed, I'd still stick with Lencarta. Because when the chips are down, I'm not actually stood on my own trying to keep it all together.

Thanks for the informative reposnse Michael ... appreciated. Based on what you and others have said about Lencarta i think they are possible front runners in my choice for kitting out my new studio .... providing i can get a definite price. As of now the Lencarta website has completely gone offline ..

Keith, if you are attending the shoot this Friday, you'll be meeting Garry at the studio firt. Take a look at the heads at that point.
Having said that, I'm aware you have already mentioned you need the setup before this weekend.

Yes .. would be good to see the heads in question first ... ive PMd Garry to reserve 2 places on the shoot if available ..

Dont see any mention of cost ... is the shoot free ?

I have a large 4x4 so getting to the offroad shoot area is no problem ...

its still down Garry(you probably know that though) I hope you get it up and running soon.

I can see some of the site now....although I'm also seeing a vision of the poor web developer frantically typing like that scene in Swordfish where he's got a gun to his head....minus the more pleasurable part of course :naughty:

magento and joomla strikes again!

magento and joomla strikes again!
Please don't wind me up:) I've been wound up enough already:'(

The state of play at the moment is that the site is up again and people can order. There are a lot of niggling little issues, such as text not displaying properly and photos that have disappeared, but they're working on that and I've been told that everything will be wonderful - or at least a lot better - by tomorrow.

The whole website is being completely revamped, using a different system that we're told will actually work properly - but that will take a while.
