No they dont fit, but the new range of lencarta softboxes come with a choice of head adapters to compliment the base s-fit.. adapter

The issue with strobist setups is the shape of the flashgun, and the pattern of light it distributes, the only way you can tell is take a flashgun off the camera, and hold it in side the sofbox and do a few teat shots, but dont hold your breath

Hot shoe gun is usually okay in a softbox with a double diffuser, even better if you pop a Stofen diffuser cap on it.

Have to remember though a big Octabox is going to eat up the light from a tiny flashgun.

True enough, but less than you might think. It's shoot-through brollies that lose most light as half of it bounces straight out of the back and the light from the front goes across almost 180 degrees. A good softbox that contains the light and channels it where it's wanted, and not where it isn't, is usually workable with a hot-shoe gun.

Elinchrom has its own mount, but some people have successfully modded the Rotalux softboxes to fit Alien Bee strobes, so maybe it is possible to adapt it Bowens S mount? :)

In this case, there isn't a lot of point - Lencarta has a wide range of different folding softboxes that will go straight on to Lencarta etc flash heads, and at much lower prices than the Elinchrom folding softboxes

do you do one the same sort off size garry

What sort of size?! To save Garry's blushes, while the Lencarta range is not as extensive as Elinchrom, they do pretty much everything you could possibly need. Click the link in Garry's post.

Lencarta's folding softboxes are very nice and sensibly priced. I particularly like their 120cm folding Octa (£120) which, now it's available in Elinchrom fit, is pretty much an inevitable purchase for me some time soon, as my main portrait light. A size which actually Elinchrom doesn't do, and much as I'd like Elinchrom's gorgeous 135cm Octa (£234) it is pretty huge for most domestic environments.

Here's a link to the various folding softboxes
and you'll see that there are 6 different sizes, plus honeycombs. That link won't work for long because the website is being updated, but it will be easy enough to find the new link when it changes.

Just to avoid possible confusion, the folding softboxes don't have interchangeable speedrings, the Elinchrom/Hensel/Bron/Profoto/Balcar etc speedrings are only available for non-folding softboxes

cheers garry i think ill order the 95cm one. just need a holder so i can use it with flashes aswell

Well its up to the OP, but true there is not a lot of sense in doing that :) Elinchrom is quite expensive.

Ah right. So the folding softboxes have a fixed fitting, and that is Bowens/Lencarta only? Have I got that right now? :( Any change in that likely any time soon Garry?

No change in sight. The reason that the fitting can't be changed on the folding softboxes is because they're machined without interchangeable inserts, because of the speedring design.
