So ive finally managed to get myself a set of these background reflectors

It mentioned that you can attach lighting gels to them. anyone use them? was thinking i could attach a set of pink/blue ones for baby shoots.

Any ideas where you can get gels to fit, or in fact which gels are the best in general.

There's no "fit" as such, just buy a sheet large enough. Don't cut the excess, just tape it out of the way, as you never know what else you may need to use the gel on.
Gels are abundant on ebay, plus other places such as calumet etc

Thanks for the thoughts and tips. Are all gels equal? Which are the better quality ones?

Also, am i going to get the uniform colour that i see in my mind? lol Im trying to use these instead of buying different coloured backdrops

One thing to be aware of, the output levels of your strobe will effect the perceived density of colour.
A strobe on full whack will provide a much weaker red from a gel, than a strobe on 1/16th etc.
Think of the strobe as being white paint being added to the pot of red. A lot of white produces mild pink. A little white will produce a good red.
Have a play and you will see what I mean. Top quality are the likes of Lee etc, but you are paying a percentage for the name.
Karlu sell gels, but I would definitely check out ebay

Thanks for that. Ive just had a look at the link and found some rather expensive rolls of lee filter....

Thanks for making the idea of mixing the white and the colour, its alot clearer now.

i will do, just need to buy some filters. going to have a hunt round eBAY as all im turning up is lens filters

use "lee lighting gels" as a search term

No, it needs to be 33cm x 21cm

Thanks. The search continues :)

Look no further. These are full sheet, the half sheet ones seem to be the same price so full sheet look like the obvious choice

thanks for the link. that will sort it. Ive emailed them to see if they will do a split pack of different colours. fingers crossed
