I'd like to know if someone have or had it and what do you think about this amazing and expensive lens?

I'd love to get one to my Leica R8 soon but first it would be good to see some real impressions for someone who already used it...

Now I have the Carl Zeiss Planar T* 85mm f/1.4 to use with my Canon 5D but if I buy the Summilux I'd sell this one because that Leica could be adapted to Canon too...

Would this be a good investiment for Leica R8? I think so...But what do you think?

Well if it is anything like the Nikon 85mm f1.4 I have it would be a cracking lens and I have used it alot over the past year, probable one of my favorite lens.
However I am looking for a Leica 90mm f2 Summicron for my Leica R5 which looks to be again an nice lens but obviously lacks the extra 2 stops and the price of the 85mm.

Where have you seen the Leica 85mm and out of interest how much is it?

I saw some on ebay sometimes and I know they are pretty expensive...

I don't know when I can afford it but it would be cool to know more about it :)

Summicron 90/2 looks like a great lens too but in this focal lenght I'd need a faster lens.

The summicron 90 is a portrait lens, really. It isn't as sharp wide open as the biometar 80/2.8 and it does have some CA. These things show up on a 5d Mk2 but probably wouldn't on a Leica 35mm film camera.

I'll use most of the times for portraiture and fashion photography...

Using with 5DII (almost comming...) it would be so good to see CA wide open... My Planar T* 85/1.4 is amazing wide open so Summicron won't be so good.

I think the only way to change the Planar would be buying the Summilux 80/1.4... Not Summicron 90/2...
