Spotted a nice looking Q2 at LCE in Bath this morning.
I don't know too much about it but it looked good and is described as 4* "very good condition".

UPDATE: Poor experience - see below.

Well as I was in Bath this morning for a couple of hours so I though that I would pop in and check the Q2 out and at the same time enquire what a P/X might be for my Q.

The conversation went something like this:-

Me: Morning, I'm interested in the Q2 you have for sale, can you tell me if it is complete and boxed please?
LCE: I think so, we can check the box.

Me: Thanks, can you tell me what the P/X might be for my Q, (showing the Q), please.
LCE: Nothing!

Me: Sorry?
LCE: Nothing!

Me: (Didn't know what to say so just looked at him).
LCE: We want to sell it, not buy something else!

I didn't really know what to say, it's been a long time since I have experienced such unfriendly, indeed surly customer service as I did from the manager of LCE Bath, so I left the store without any further discussion.

Now of course he/they have no obligation to buy or P/X any equipment but it costs nothing to be friendly and civil, to be otherwise costs customers, I am living proof of that.

I agree. If there's a policy in place a polite "I'm sorry but we're not taking px at the moment/on this product" would have been much more friendly.

Kindness is free.

And just out of interest, if you have the time to explain... What does the Q2 do/offer over the Q to make you think about changing?

I do see the appeal of these cameras and I do like the look of them.

TBH very little and I wouldn't have decided to buy today, more thought would be needed.
The Q2 is 47mp against the Q's 24, (even then the Q is so good that I can crop to 200% and have super sharp images), and it has a 'form' of weather-sealing, which some call 'splash-proof' - there are some downsides too like no USB port.
For me it would purely be GAS and quite unnecessary, the Q does everything I need, I simply don't need another camera!

Thanks.

I can see how some people would like the resolution increase and it'd come in handy for cropping but for those who are happy with the focal length and can mostly frame their shots how they want to the extra mp's could be just an irritation as the larger files could take more processing and storage space.

The highest mp count cameras I have are my Sony A7's at 24mp and although more would sometimes be nice the vast majority of my pictures don't need the extra resolution.

I can see how it's hard to resist in the shop though... Well done. Many would have cracked and bought it or gone somewhere else for a decent trade in and a more polite customer service :D

It's several years since I've been in Bath but I can't say that I'm amazed.

My experience is that branch has always been variable, when it comes to customer friendliness. Exeter, Taunton and Bristol have always been good places to deal with but over several years I made Bath the last shop I'd try and then, only if I needed something in a hurry and none of the other local camera shops had it in stock.

I put it down to being in the most tourist packed settlement in the west country. Stll. it's foolish to ignore the old advice to sales people that "courtesy costs nothing and pays most".

Weird, I thought trading in was their whole thing..you can literally browse the website, select that Q2 from the Bath store and then select the big, obvious blue ‘trade-in’ button..!
Sounds like they had a shocker there

WoW. That does make it sound even more like very poor in shop customer service.

Yes that was my understanding too, I've traded with LCE elsewhere before.
Maybe the Bath branch is going through a tough financial time.

I popped in there with a few month back with questions about an R5ii with the intention to order, basically told to speak with Canon. Little to no interest to discuss, didn’t offer to find out or offer a contact number. Shop was empty, the gentleman didn’t seem busy.

Gosh, that is shocking @gramps

I've dealt with LCE in the past and always found them friendly, but haven't used the one in Bath. Why even have a trade in button on the site if they don't wanna do it?!

I've seen that Q2 on their site and it does seem a decent price. I've had a bit of an itch for a Q after shooting a lot of work at 28mm. Just love the simplicity of it - but can't help but wonder if an original Q would be enough in truth. Some say the files are nicer from the original too - though I'm not sure how true that is.

As far as I can see the main advantages are as I mentioned above, higher pixel count and 'weather-sealing'.
However the 'weather-sealing' on the Q2 is stated as being very basic and I don't think it is much more sealed than the Q, only okay if the rain is at a certain angle or something like that.
My Q has been fine in a bit of light rain, I just carry it sensibly and put it under my coat or umbrella if it gets heavy - I think most people do the same with many different camera makes and models. I also read that the low-light capability of the Q2 is worse than the Q.

Some say that 24mp is the 'sweet-spot' and the Q's lens is so good that image quality and sharpness are superb, some also say that a higher pixel count shows up any movement more.
GAS aside I don't need anything better, my Q is superb, late off the production line in February 2019 and is absolutely unmarked.
I certainly wouldn't deal with LCE Bath in the future, that's for sure.

Not to go off topic too much but I think with higher mp count cameras issues like worse ISO performance and showing subject movement are things which are related to resolution / image size / how close we view. For example if we look at a higher resolution image at 100% that's maybe a different and more extreme thing than looking at a 24mp image at 100%, Often if we look at a high mp count image in the same way we'd look at a 24mp image or downsize the higher mp count image the higher resolution image issues will be lessened or indeed the picture may be "better" than the 24mp image. I suppose this would raise the question of why should we bother with higher resolution sensors if we're going to limit ourselves to 24mp type viewing and the answer is I suppose because sometimes those extra pixels do give us more options and even a better picture.

The Q2 (like the Q3) has a certified IP rating - not many cameras do, its 'only' IP52 (first number dust/ second water) so its not brilliant (ie IP65 or higher) but it has been formally tested.

IMO the Q2 is no better than the Q in low-light, but the Q3 is definitely a step up from the Q2

The main differences (of the Q2) from the Q are:-

Better EVF
Higher resolution
Certified WR
Better Battery Life

The Q3 adds:-

More resolution
Even better EVF
Phase Detection AF (fatser than Contrast Only detection in Q and Q2)
Better Low Light Performance
Tilt Rear Screen
