You can pay way over the odds on ebay but be careful they may be out of stock too. Mine took 2.5 months to come via Warehouse Express, all places are out of stock and on backorder
I have two seperate orders for Lee filters and one was placed in November, still waiting!
I appreciate the high demand, however this is not a recent issue, but it would appear they have only recently employed more staff. Why did they wait so long in the first place to respond to the demand as they must have lost many a potential order
They have it sown up, they trickle out the filters so as to keep demand high, that way they never have a slack period, its very clever of them, just god help them if another manufacturer who was any good ever came on the scene
Surely though..once word of long lead times gets around, thats enough for that approach to backfire? I'm looking at Lee filters at the mo...cause all my current ones are cheapo's. It may well be that reading stuff like this is enough to put me (and presumably others) off the brand.
I tried to get a LEE kit at the Focus on Imaging show last wekend and the distributor told me they had only 20 kits for the whole show which ran out in two hours. I got a LEE foudation Kit from Calumet next day, then my adaptor rings and finally bought a Hitech 100mm Soft ND Grad 0.6. These are not suppose to be as good as the LEE but I'm not as good as a pro so I'm sure we will get on fine. I will try and update with results
