I currently have Cokin series P filters and would like to get some Lee filters to go with my Sigma 10-20mm lens. Am I correct in thinking the following is what I need to buy or am I missing something.
Thanks
Prices are from warehouse express

Lee Foundation Kit £52.99
Lee Wide Angle Adaptor Ring 77mm £38.99

Lee ND Set Soft Resin Filter Set £141.99
or as a cheaper alternative
Lee Neutral Density 0.9 Soft Graduated Resin Filter £59.99

Lee Foundation Kit £52.99 Yes
Lee Wide Angle Adaptor Ring 77mm £38.99 Yes (unless your Sig 10-20 is the F3.5 version in which 82mm required)

Lee ND Set Soft Resin Filter Set £141.99 Yes
or as a cheaper alternative
Lee Neutral Density 0.9 Soft Graduated Resin Filter £59.99

When I started I went with a 3-stop hard grad (for seascapes / solid horizons) and a 2-stop soft grad (for landscapes), which covers me for most situations. I think you'll find the 2-stop grad being most used.

God, those are expensive filters.

£38.99 for a filter adapter is absolute daylight robbery! Those things are £2 on ebay, DELIVERED!

The filters one could argue are of good quality, but definately, DEFINATELY go to eBay for the holders and adapters.

You're being well and truly ripped off there.

Are you sure any of the above are in stock? I believe there are waiting lists for lee filters...

I would add the ND Hard grad to the list and also a circular Polariser. I got my Lee ND Set Soft Resin Filter Set from Calumet for £108.66

I'm looking to buy a grey grad Cokin P to use with my Sigma 10-20, can't justify the expense of Lee Filters at the moment.
Just wondering how you got on with the Cokin system & what made you look at Lee filters?
many thanks

The list sounds about right. I wouldn't bother buying a set of grads though as the 0.3 will probably not get used, therefor a waste. I would probably go for 2 filters to start with (the 0.9 and 0.6 soft grads) and then get the matching hard grads as and when you can afford them. The 3 stop ND might be of some use at some point in the future also.

Rgds

Forget the soft grads, go for a 0.6 and 0.9 hard grad. Lee is expensive but far and away the best, you will have them for life. Not sure re the lens, I'd call Lee to check there won't be any vignetting....01264 366245 and ask for technical help.

No vignetting on the 10-20 with a 77mm w/a adaptor. There will be some slight vignetting if you stack 2 screw on filters (i.e. UV + polarizor for example) to the lens plus the Lee holder.

There is a UV filter permanently on my lens and with the Lee holder on there is no vignetting at 10mm. If I attach another filter on top of the UV there is some small vignetting at 10mm. Nothing a slight crop will not fix.
