Hi,

I just wanted to get some advice on Lee Filters. I currently have the Lee filter digital starter kit which is great and have really enjoyed using it. It has a 0.6ND grad and a 0.6ND filter. I have found when using it, sometimes the 0.6 ND Grad is too harsh and is sometimes too dark. Therefore those that know, would you suggest also buying a 0.3ND grad or the 0.45ND grad. I am leaning towards the 0.3 as that way I can also put the it in the holder with the 0.6 and make it a 0.9.

Any advice would be gratefully received!

Thanks

Chris

The 0.3 on it's own is very subtle, I rarely use mine, I tend to use mine in fairly low light so generally use 0.6 or 0.9 so personally I'd go for the 0.45.

I understand your thinking re combining the 0.3 and 0.6 but if you find the 0.6 too dark how useful will 0.9 be in practice?

+1 on above. I also have 0.3, 0.6 and 0.9 and rarely use the 0.3.

What do you mean when you say too harsh as opposed to too dark? If you mean the transition from dark to light then do you have a hard grad? Perhaps get a 0.6 soft

The difference, as you probably realise between the .3 and the .45 is only half a stop, personally I use the 0.6 and 0.9 but I'm using the hard grads.

Good point, I'll stick to what I have and maybe use Lightroom if needed.

Thanks for all your input.
