Lee - Big Stopper - What do I need?

Hi all

Please forgive my stupid question folks but I've just purchased a Lee Big Stopper at a great price new and realise I need the correct fittings to attach it to my lens(s)

Please can you advise me what I need (the shop I bought it from online wasn't too helpful with the answer when I called them would you believe!!!)

I'm thinking of using it with my cannon 15-85 & 10-22

From a little research I think I need a;
Lee Foundation Kit (£54)
And
An adapter ring for the lens diameter

Is this correct

That should get you going....make sure you get the expensive wide adapter(s) for the size(s) your need.

Your lenses are both relatively wide angle at their lowest focal lengths. One very wide in fact,so the wide angle adaptor will be required for clearance to avoid vignetting.

If you're looking to save a few quid on the adapters then Ffordes seem to have the necessary items in their used stock....shown as Exc++ and their assessments are usually very accurate.

Hello

Like you, I have just got my Lee Big Stopper, and am in need of the holders etc.

Whilst I contemplate which ones to purchase, I have made myself a holder for the paltry sum of £22.50! I used some 5mm black foam board, an 82mm Cokin adaptor ring for my Sigma 24-70 and some Velcro strips.

I cut the foam board to the 100mm square filter size and then cut an aperture slightly short of wide enough to push the adaptor ring through. I then put the Velcro strips along the edges of the foam board and the edges of the filter to fix it in place. The whole thing screws to the front of my lens.

I know it is a bit heath robinson but it seems to do the job well, no light leaks, vignettes etc, but I have yet to give it a serious road test. That is my plan this weekend.

Depending on what your Blue Peter arts and crafts are like, it might be worth giving it a go.

I can post some pics of the makeshift holder and some from camera if you are interested.
