Yes
I really want to start learning about photography in more detail such as Aperature, Shutter Speed, Rule of thirds, filters etc to try and create better images.

I have a lot of spare time a work just now in the evening so want to start reading up about it all.

Does anyne have any good websites where I can learn all the technical things.

Areas of Photography that I am nterested in and keen to explore more is Landscapes and Transport if that makes a difference to what I need to know, although I'm thinking i'm best to learn as much as possible.

Sorry should have said - its a Nikon D40

Thanks for those 2 links by the way - should be a big help.

The best way to learn is with an experienced mentor.

A retired pro should have time on their hands to spare, and many enjoy passing on their long gained experience.

I have helped out a few starters and others with particular problems in my time.

There might even be someone in you area in this forum?

Get hold of a copy of "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson. It's a good read.

I asked for this for my Birthday last month - it's a cracking read and certainly gives you the basics. There's little tasks in it too that you can do. I haven;t finished it all the way through first time yet, but it's one I know I'll be going back to more than once already.
