Just wondering if anyone uses (or has used) the triflector? I'm interested in this but not sure whether to go for it. I appreciate I could make my own but I'd rather just buy one and save the time - but only if i think it's worth doing so.

Anyone got any experience they can share?

Thanks
Jim

We have a set in the studio and we find it a very handy and versatile but of kit. Great for head and shoulder portraits or even facial close-up’s, Depending on your style of photography, I’d recommend you investing in one.

Thanks Kemble - Appreciate the quick response. That's exactly what hoped for and wanted to hear :) I do like shooting some close ups and thought that this might be a simple way of setting that up. Saving on assistant holding my reflector!

Do you light from above? I may need to invest in a boom arm too!

I’d mainly use a large lightbox suspended from the ceiling pointing at about 45 degrees the subject. Trifletor in front and to the sides of the model.

i have a 53" Rotalux octabox and wondered if that's too big - i do have a smaller box too right enough. Just didn't want to buy something I didn't need.

I think that Triflector is brilliant. Sure you can cobble something similar together, but speed and efficiency are worth paying for when you're working with people I think.

Sadly I don't have beautiful women to shoot on a regular basis or I'd have one for sure. I can't think of many other subjects they'd be any good for though ;)

Hoppy, Neither do I :( lol

I think it would be useful for any women and even with one of the panels down to give some depth, I think perhaps it may suit many people?

I think it will give me the assistance I need as having someone hold a reflector can be a pain at times!

I've ordered it so will report my findings back. (And some images) :)

Cheers all

Jim

Good for you. Go for it!

I opted for a regular reflector holder on a stand which is obviously more generally useful and can kind of fudge a Triflector effect but for sure it's not quite the same thing. The Triflector should be handy for any pretty-style portraits I guess

I made something very similar many years ago (long before lastolite marketed it) using three pieces of white foam board and a couple of Bowens Multiclips. Stuck tinfoil to one side of the board to give a white/silver option. Cost at the time was under £20.

Surely it can,t be that hard to make something similar.;):shrug:

I suppose it isn't too difficult to replicate but when travelling to clients houses, it's easier for me to be portable and the Lastolite one is indeed that.

Yep point taken:)

THanks to all for their comments and help :) TP is a great forum
