Hi
Anyone using: Lastolite Hilite Background 6 x 7 feet, if so how do you find/rate using the system?

Dave

I've got one and it does exactly what it says on the tin! However... it's going to be bigger than you thought and it can be a bit cumbersome if you are trying to erect it in a confined space - such as a small living roon in a clients house. it is also a bit fiddly to completely collapse again until you get the hang of it.

Love it! - I can collapse it in under an hour now too :D

I can now collapse in under a minute - once you have the knack :)

I used mine recently to photograph father christmas at a local shopping centre, and again yesterday for a model shoot. I also have a train at the bottom - and I find this gives a great result overall...

I really like it - and I can get it up in my relatively small lounge at a push :)

Here's one from yesterday:

Thanks for the resposes, how do you light the system, Model Lamp, Flash only, 1 light, 2 lights? and where do you place the lights? So many questions...:)

I shoot in High key so aware of 2 stop differences...etc.

Again thanks for any help, found what appears to be a bargin at www.fotosense.co.uk

I use 2 x Courtney studio flash heads to light the hi-lite using slave to trigger them from a pair of Elinchrom 200's with softboxes... The Courtney's go either side of the hi-lite, and the Elinchrom's can go wherever you like depending on how you want your subject lit...

Here's an uncropped one from yesterday - showing that it just fits in my narrow lounge :) Oh and I forgot to zip up the right hand side - as you can see the light bleed onto the wall....

Do you find the train and in particular the joing need much PP?

I have heard that it`s no good for event togs that print on site because the train/join always requires work. or you have to try and light the floor/join seperately.

Fantastic, will order one....,
Dave

I use 2 elinchrom 200s for the sides and one 400 with varistar for the main.
Yes it's easy to collapse once you get the knack and even with the train in place doesn't take too much room either.:)

The image above is un-photoshopped - and you can see the join for sure - but it's not immensely obvious. If I had a fifth light I'd light the rear of the train separately, but at the moment I only have 4....

When I use 4 lights the train & join are a lot more obvious. Any tips?

hi there
sorry to add to add to this but do you reckon the hi-lite background gives better results with one or 2 lights in it?
im struggling to decide which lights i should buy...and obviously a 2 or 3 head kit is one of my choices.
thanks

Depends on which size Hilite, which lights and how many people you want to shoot using it.

I have the 8x7 HL but only ever used it with two lights. If I was shooting a couple standing in the centre I am sure one light would probably do, if on the other hand I was shooting a group of 5-6 and didn`t want to have to PP the corners, would want to use two.

ok thanks...im not entirely sure on quantitys of people i reckon it will vary quite a lot but just was rather confused.
i think i will be getting the 6x7 hilite as its not too big but not too small either
