Hi,

As the title suggests, after a Laser printer for photo printing. Are there any good laser printers that can compete with Inkjet printers ?

I have read a few artciles that current lasers have improved in photo printing, but not sure what printers are up to the task.

Anyone got any recommendations ?

Cheers.

Inkjet and dye-sublimation printers are still much superior for photo printing.

At this point in time, laser is not the better solution for photography;
laser printer makers know that well. Instead, the R&D for laser tech-
nologies has taken a whole different and very promising direction.

Not in my experience at the moment. Dye sublimation vs inkjet are generally better than any laser - unless the colour range is small and within the gamut of the printer. For me this tends to rule out laser unless all you need is a proof for editing purposes: not for display.

in my experience of laser printers is a cheap inkjet will produce better photographs using half decent photo paper
iv'e had a few colour lasers at the moment i have 2 an oki c301dn and an oki 822 a3 laser ( or should i say LED printers ) both produce excellent results for documents and the like but where photo's are concerned they do a very ordinary attempt it's not something i would consider putting in a frame
iv'e tried the so called laser photo paper with mixed results but non of the results match up to inkjet or sub dye printers and non of the prints from laser i would consider light fast ( if that's the right word ) they fade quite drastically in direct sunlight especially the reds

just to add
if your thinking of using a colour laser for photo's only you might find them quite expensive to run it'l go through toner quicker than you think

I have used both, and I'm afraid the laser printer does not match the inkjet print for image quality. You are best off using and inkjet, depending,of course on what you want to use it for. If you want good quality photographic prints then laser is not for you imho.
