Large format film camera seen on TV news bulletin........

I was watching the Trump impeachment hearing on the news last night and in the scrum of Photographers was a guy using a large camera with a waist level viewfinder.....I am sure I even noticed him putting what looked like either the darkslide going back or another sheet film "cartridge".

It's a great sales gimmick but I just can't see the point otherwise (and I used 5x4 quite a lot at one time).
