Laptop recommendation - under £500

Can anyone recommend a decent laptop for under £500 suitable for the following uses:

  • browsing internet
  • email
  • word processing
  • photo editing
  • web/graphic design

No interest in gaming or video editing or other heavy duty usage

Lenovo t61p would get my vote & spend the change on a couple of large hard drives & a graphics tablet :-)

Sorry, did not know you wanted new. Think these were around £1400 new if that helps lol. Very reliable though :-)
 
Personally if you're looking to do photo editing and graphic design then I'd prioritise the screen over other aspects of the system - I find trying to do anything productive on a 1366x768 panel is just painful - but that might not give you much choice in your budget...

Other thing I'd suggest is if PC World or John Lewis do a few models your interested in - even if you aren't going to buy from them - go in store and take a look at them. Things like build quality, keyboard feel, touchpad response, etc, can't be judged from a spec sheet and are quite personal things.
 
Thanks, that's a good idea, keep meaning to pop down to PC World but never seem to have the time
