Laptop memory upgrade

Evening all just found out I could squeeze more memory in to my laptop I'm using for some photo edits ..... I will be building a full system soonish maybe a couple month or so but for the mean time I'm running 6gb memory and found I could have 8gb would it make a big difference,?

For lightroom, probably not. In my old Macbook moving from 2-4GB made a noticeable difference but from 4-8GB no difference at all, with the limioting factor on speed being the processor (2GHz core 2 duo).

Not unless you are running out of memory and paging to disk. If this is happening, you will have your HDD light on a lot.

You are running a 64bit OS aren't you?

Well just a small update it's made no real difference to PS as you's said but it does feel slightly better in general night just be in my head

Didn't have to buy any memory though .... With having 6gb already (1x4gb + 1x2gb) and the bonus we have to identical laptops in our house one for me and ones just a general web browser which stays downstairs so I pulled the 4gb out of that and swapped it with my 2gb as it won't need it for web browsing so all is good free upgrade so if it's only slightly better i feel even better it was free

And yes 64bit system
