What does everyone use to manage their photos. I currently share a laptop with the other half although it is rapidly getting filled by photo editing software etc that he does not want slowing the laptop down.

Was thinking of getting myself a laptop/ipad for my own use but not sure what is best for the job.

You can get some pretty good software for the iPad but something like Lightroom on a notebook is still far better. Think about a couple of external derived for backups and always keep one with someone else.

Depends in the budget, but I like using a Mac, very quick, however I download all my photos onto external hard drives. I'm now expert at photography but that is my two cents worth.

The iPad (with camera kit) is a stunning photography companion, but it's not a replacement for a desktop/laptop for editing or organising photos. I got rid of my laptop and got an iMac instead, because my iPad can do EVERYTHING I need to do while mobile, except for proper photo editing/organising.

Was think around £300-£400.

Can you store programmes ie. Photoshop onto external hard drives?

This should be in big flashing letter at the top of this forum...

The iPad is not a laptop replacement. It is absolutely no good at all for serious editing of photos. Yes, there are some apps out there. But they're like the singing dog - yes it's amazing that it can sing, but it's still got a lousy voice.
