I am looking at buying a Lenovo laptop (not for photo editing). Some models have a fingerprint scanner for logging in. I have seen conflicting reports on the performance of these scanners.
Anyone care to comment on their experience with such devices. Also, can they be disabled by the account holder and a PIN number used to sign in.

It tends to be the other way round. They don't work until you register fingerprints for them to work with and even then there is always the option to override the scanner and use a password/pin as before.

Super, thanks Duncan. That is perfect.

Yup, just like a phone, you don't have to use them.
