Lapsed sort of Newbie...

Hi Folks,

I joined up here back in 2008ish when I bought myself a 2nd hand Canon 400D and got very excited about using it.

Since then, work has got in the way of photography and I have lost touch both with the forum and more importantly the camera.

However in March I moved to live and work in Borneo so obviously the camera is back out an getting some serious use again. I took it on it's first jungle trip this weekend and was bitterly disappointed by the results - as a result I think both of my utter lack of skills and of the camera and lenses that I have - people with decents compacts seemed to be getting better photos! Partly due to me entirely forgetting that I could control the ISO :shake:

Since I should be living in this amazing place for a few years I have decided to invest in upgrading / replacing equipment and learning some wildlife photography skills (sadly I don't think human memory or brain replacements and upgrades are available!) so I am likely to be hanging about in the equipment and wildife sections asking endless questions for a while.

Hello Cat, I am new today also...Wow Borneo what a photographic opportunity, if you do find somewhere with brain upgrades or replacements please let me know !!! I also had the 400D and seemed to know a lot more about photography then than now, it's all a haze ! That's the good thing about DSLRs you can get out there and experiment without cost of film which really helps.
