Landscape verses portrait

I think Fon can shine with either but since I’ve just started shooting her in landscape I want to explore that area more

I like the landscape better because it's a more balanced photo with a good pose and space around the subject - this is a lovely portrait. The second image is stronger when cropped to the bottom of the dress and would be even better with more space above - the black stockings unbalance the image and have far too much visual weight.

As @Billy_wiz said, use whichever format suits the subject best. I don't think the first image would have had anything like the same impact in portrait format. There would likely have been far too much dead space.

Whichever works on the look your trying to achieve, I do on occassion take shots in landscape because often you can crop a portrait from a landscape if needs be, but not the other way round.

Both are nice.
I'm the opposite I usually shoot portraits in landscape, very rarely portrait but each to their own.

Great work, I rarely use portrait mode as I'm not the biggest fan of the blurred background, landscape works better imo
