Hi Guys I'm after a little help an advice to taking landscape pictures.

I have a Nikon D5000, 18-55 Nikon lens and a 70-200 Nikon lens also. I also own an Polarisation filter and an ND 2 + 4 and I would like to know how to maximise landscape pictures?

Are there any links on the forum on how to do them? Things to consider? Is my equipment good enough to get some good quality shots?

Basically any advice possible.

Here is an example of one shot I've taken. What am I doing wrong?

excellent picture, I don't think that you need many tips or lessons :)

I find that I get many more replies to my questions on dpreview.com

Hi

To get more replies to a post such as this you might have posted as requiring critique.

You don't say what you did when you took this image? There is no exif attached. You should also say what you were trying to achieve and didn't?

IMO this has too much dark space at the bottom, I would crop to the bottom of the reflection. The rest I rather like

That's quite a nice image. Is the horizon level?
You're better. Off posting images in the photo sharing section asking for comments and advice..

That could be because you have only posted 8 time here.

how does the number of times I have posted here affect the number of replies to this, or any other post?

Sounds like a good idea thanks.

And thats the first and only landscape picture I have taken. Just point and shoot. I'm not asking for tips on that specific picture but rather what goes into getting a good landscape shot.

Nice shot btw, your camera is great for landscapes, i had used to have a Nikon D60 to get back into photography again and it produced great sharp clear punchy pictures.
I don't know if your D5000 has a cable release socket, mirror lock up etc, but you may want to upgrade later on.

Location :D

Location, Light, Composition, people right books based on those three words. A good way is to look through the landscape shots and work out what YOU like and go from there, unless you plan to sell your images it's what you like that counts.

I highly recommend this site. Quite advanced and a bit "large format" orientated, but excellent tutorials and very inspirational. Worth paying for too.
