I have been asked to help my daughter shoot a landscape in the region of Haworth (Bronte Country), Yorkshire, UK.

She wants to capture the drama of the local moors at daybreak.

I am not local and it will be a 3 or 4 hour drive in the morning to get there so we will have limited time for scouting the area on the morning/day.

So, since I do not know the area at all I was wondering whether anyone here could recommend a location to get stunning moorland shots in this region ?

Any information would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Gary

Have a look at the OS map of the area. Bing maps -

http://www.bing.com/maps/?FORM=MMREDR

have a handy OS option that saves spending hours in a map shop.

Also have a look at the Photgrapher's Ephemeris - http://photoephemeris.com/

It shows the time and direction of sunrise and set overlaid on a map. Unfortunately it does not use the OS map but a combination of the two will give you some ideas of where may be a good spot.

Google maps is also useful to let you do a virtual drive in an area.

Its quite difficult to suggest locations though there are many but quite a few would involve a reasonable walk.

Widdop reservoir, it is south west of Haworth and north west of Hebden Bridge, is close to a road and could provide a good shot or two. There is a parking place towards the north end and in the next few days the sun will rise almost down the length of the reservoir.
