I am trying to sort out some photographic locations for short breaks this year. I am very tempted with Lake Windermere, I have found a good hotel on the banks of the lake.

Can anyone recommend any other locations in the lake district which i should maybe consider staying at instead? or maybe any places within the lake district which are a must to visit with my camera?

Thanks

Rob

Rob I know a superb B&B near Windermere - I'll look up the link and post it soonish - near bowness! Good rates and immaculately run - stayed there in September.

Aira Force is a good place to take the camera. I think its near Ullswater.

Its about a two mile walk from the nearest car park but its worth it.

you wont go far wrong wherever you end up in the Lakes area.... its without doubt the most scenic area in England
take to the backroads and you will find streams and little bridges with dramatic backdrops all over the place
Keswick is possibly the prettiest town in England with the 'Olde World' feel
Grasmere and Kirkstone pass have some dramatic scenery

Hill walker mag usually has a bunch of walks featured most months with pictures that will give you an idea of what to expect

I have a few online but have not had time to sort thru my most recent ones... but these will give you an idea of what to expect

Your pictures are fantastic, thats the reason i want to visit. Can you remember where you took these?

all 3 of the above were all taken within 8 miles of Keswick... what you see in them pictures is pretty much what its like everywhere in that region
just follow any of the small backroads and you will see the finest scenery in England (bar none)

I will post the url of a good mate of mine who lives in the Lake District... and is a pretty 'hot' Landscape photographer
his name is Gary

I am sure if you email him he will sort you out some great places to check out up there
Cheers Chris

Thanks very much for all your feedback. I have provisionally booked a hotel near Windermere for the first week of september. Can't wait :)

Hi

If you need any info about the local area give me a shout. I used to spend all my days in and around the lakes, now im more tied to the offices in Carlisle, Whitehaven or Barrow but still get out at the weekend.

Is it areas in easy reach of a car your after, or are you more into walks and views?

PM me if you need anything

Allan
