Hi all, no photos to post more of a request for info, I'll be staying over for a night in the lakes soon on thw way back from a big driving trip around scotland and figured the best place to stop would be in the lakes somewhere, so... if you had half a day and one night to take pics where would you go in the lake district?

Preferably somewhere with camping close by

Wasdale, if you've got a bit of time to get to and from, as it's a bit out of the way. Camping at Wasdale Head, nice beer in a nice pub in the evening. Good times.

If you don't fancy the trek over west then Ullswater is very picturesque, bit less wild than Wasdale though. Coniston is also accessible and pretty. To be honest pretty much anywhere you'll find some sort of opportunity.

Excellent sounds like Wasdale is the best option then, looks good after a quick browse of the web

I was going to say Buttermere is very picturesque as is the Langdale area which features Grasmere. Little Langdale has a fab valley surrounded by stunning hills. Last time I was there it coincided with a mountain rescue which we sat and watched from afar!

Moved to 'Talk Photography' as 'Landscapes' is for photo sharing :)

Won't go far wrong with Keswick.Nice and central. Most photogenic place in the lakes(imho).
If you are coming down the M6 there's a travelodge at Penrith(1/2 mile from the motorway).10 mins from there you can being standing at the "photogenic" boathouse at Ullswater.Couple of decent places for a feed in Pooley Bridge too.
