Hi guys,

Is it just me or are we seeing an increase in members making snidey comments, some which border on being rude, in the forums?

I know the mods keep an eye out, and some will say other forums are much worse, but i just do not feel some posts are well mannered or courteous. I also appreciate that the written word can seem harsher than perhaps the author intended but i do think we should all be careful of how we write what we want to say.

There are a couple of people who i would not consider buying from because they seem incapable of replying to offers in a polite way; i know we all have this choice as individuals but i just don't like to see bad manners in any walk of life.

I also notice that some people seek advise or opinions from others then do not have the manners to thank those that offer them.

Perhaps i am just more aware of this because everyone one i have met or dealt with in relation to photography has been very nicely mannered.

Just my opinion based on observation....

Best wishes,

Tracey

Tracey if you find a post you feel is not polite then please report it, we cant be everywhere so we appreciate all the help we get!

Funnily enough I have just seen a thread title I find offensive, but I am extremely pc and don't know whether it's just got my radar twitching

report it Anna, that way we can decide properly. :) We don't act on everything, as you say some people are more sensitive than others, but everything reported definitely gets looked at and, if there's some doubt, discussed.

Hi Matty,

I quite understand. I suppose i had been thinking that those who were on the receiving end might do so and, if they don't feel it was impolite, then perhaps i shouldn't either.

I am not a fuddy duddy but i am particular about manners and just posted to gauge if other folks felt the same way.

When i joined the forum everyone was so welcoming and keen to share their knowledge and opinions so it would be a pity if people are put off playing an active part in discussions because of sharp, critical or unthinking responses.

Kind regards,

Tracey

I do think you have to be quite robust to post on any forum, and be prepared to ignore the rudeness of internet weirdies
