From my earlier thread on the Panasonic FZ20, it looks like Jessops are not going to have any more of these in their sale so I've missed out on that. So now my thoughts are turning to the Kodak Z740. PC World have these at £148 if bought online. The zoom is slightly less at 10x Optical as before I'm going to be using this camera for taking photos of motor racing so I need to know whether I will be able to get good pictures using the continuous mode. This would obviously be hard to reproduce by going into a shop to try one out so I value your thoughts. My first digital camera was a basic 1.3mp Kodak which proved to be ok but obviously without continuous shooting. Will the Z740 suit my needs?
PS I don't want nor need an SLR just a good compact with good zoom and continuous / sport mode to give me good pictures that won't cost the earth?

I would think that a wide apereture and fast focusing would be more important than a long zoom, to give you a chance to get sharp shots.

No good having a sharp shot of a car too far off in the background though. The camera will be trying to focus in on something a lot closer. What sort of aperture should I be looking for?.
