Does anyone here use Knowhow Cloud Storage? It's sold as a Currys/PCWorld product but is basically Livedrive which gets generally good reviews as far as I can see. You can get 2TB of cloud storage for 40gbp (using a laptop without a pound symbol!) a year, and if you pay for 5 years it is only 100gbp which seems reasonable. Would like to know if anyone else has used it before I press buy :)
 
Is it just me that would be reluctant to to rely on any service backed up by a major uk high street retailer in the present business climate?
 
Cloud back up so even if currys collapsed its only your cloud storage, id not be relying on it solely as a storage solution. You say its Livedrive so I assume that like most retailers they have an agreement with Livedrive for them to provide the service with Currys choice of branding. I would ask Knowhow and/or Livedrive what protection you have should Currys cease trading or offering this. I suspect the account would revert to Livedrive.

Is Livedrive more expensive than Knowhow? Id be more inclined to go direct if there was little or no cost diference

I have amazon prime so get free unlimited photo storage.
 
@AgentOrange Thanks James, all my images are stored on two separate hard drives but decided that an online backup as well would be worthwhile as both hard drives are in the same place! I suspect that it might be possible to revert to Livedrive if Currys went under but it would be easy enough to set up an alternative in that situation. Livedrive is considerably more expensive direct - 5gbp per month for one machine with unlimited storage and 15gbp per month for 5 machines with unlimited storage. Going through Knowhow it is 20gbp per year if you pay for 5 years and that is for 2TB and 5 machines.

I also have Amazon Prime but I thought there was a limit on the file size and as mine are mostly 24/24 Mb they are not included. I will have another look.
 
Thats some cost difference, I had no idea it had the Prime photo storage until I saw mention of Amazon storage on here, pleasant surprise and can better justify the cost now

my 20mb files have uploaded fine, just looked and there is no mention of file size restriction, just the 5GB video storage for free.

My largest is 21.8mb

Thanks James, I had a good look through and couldn't find a limit either - I saw that on a site that compared various options. As I already have it I might as well use it :)
