No
I want one, talk me out of it, tell me they are bad and there are better and cheaper alternatives.

(do they ever go on sale?)

They are bad because they will encourage you to make things with it, most of which will have a high-calorie count.
There are cheaper alternatives.

Have I persuaded you?

In all fairness If I had the space for one, I would get it, even though I don't really bake much, a lot of the attachments I would use though (more expense)

I bought the mini version a few years back direct on a sale. Think it was about 199 as I couldn’t justify the bigger one for cost. It’s stores easily in cupboard and does make cakes a lot better than my old hand whisk.

Have used it to mix wet bread dough too like a rye and nut one I do. No doubt it will last many years, as my 16 yo magimix is lasting.

Unless you are baking big bathes the mini could be a good bet.

It depends on the price and if it can accept attachments.
We have a Kenwood Chef with a number of attachments ( blender, Juicer, Mincer).
Compare the Kitchen Aid to the Kenwood before you splash the cash.

Up to £400 and cheaper price doesn’t really matter if it’s worse. So the question is whether the cheaper Kenwood is as good as the KitchenAid.

Think of it if they are both for free, which would you keep?

The Kitchen Aid is better than the Kenwood. Takes a myriad of attachments via the power take off on its "nose". If you're not in a hurry, keep an eye out for special offers on them - ours was under £400 (by some margin) when I bought it and had a couple of freebies as "send away" offers; the cookbook and an ice cream making set (bowl and beater).

As Nod says. It's made of metal, not plastic. If anything goes wrong, the customer support (even out of guarantee) is excellent. We have the food processor unit as well, it went on the blink (after more than five years of daily use), I contacted them, they got me to send it back (provided a label and courier pickup), received it back about two weeks later as new with a couple of new bowls and an attachment foc.

Where do you normally see them on offer?

Ours was in a local (non chain) shop a few years ago but I've seen them on special offer in John Lewis (among other places). IIRC, the food processor (stand alone rather than the attachment) came from Harts.

Some Kitchen Aid products are made in USA.

I bought a small Kenwood blender a couple of months ago. It was made in the people's republic of crap. It is poor quality.

I got one of them kitchen aid things ,she’s sat in the armchair watching t.v at the moment

Our Kenwood Chef is still going strong over twenty years on.
No plastic I can see and power drives rear and nose which take all sorts of attachments.

Not sure what more we could have wanted from it or how much improvement the extra outlay would have provided.

A Kenwood of today is not the same quality as a Kenwood 20 years ago, unfortunately.

Worth it if you'll use it enough.
I only really make bread dough so just got a bread maker and use the knead function. Ninja food processor for most other things.

Lakeland Plastics had the matt black one for £320 a while back, when retail price was £400.
