Kit Lens upgrade advise needed.

Hi I have bought the Canon Eos 700d with the kit lens and now want a sharper lens for 3/4 portraits.
I don't want to go tighter than 30mm can anyone recommend anything even second hand please?

The Tamron 17-50 f2.8 gets a good rep mate, worth a look as there are a few floating around on various sites second hand.

As above or the Canon 15-85mm IS lens if your budget stretches that far, brilliant image quality and very handy zoom range, heard it said enough times that it almost deserves to be an L lens.

So where is the kit lens letting you down, they are pretty good, even the original 18-55 that I had with my 350D is more than capable. Unless you are really into skin pores when perhaps a Macro might be suitable

As above, what are you finding limiting with the kit lens ?

Are you after a zoom or prime ?

An idea of max budget helps with recommendations...
