It isn't available through the amazon app store.
The only way to get WhatsApp on a kindle fire is to side load Google services app plus the playstore app and try get it that way but it's a bit of a faff if your not good with tech stuff.

You could try downloading the APK direct from WhatsApp Web page.
It says tablets aren't supported but worth a free punt just in case.

It does indeed but one just has one's phone near the computer for a connection to be made. As said not too sure about a Kindle Fire.

this, you need to have a sim on the tablet to tie it to a number.
watsapp will only work with a mobile number
my wife has a Samsung S2 with a data sim and it works great with that
