I'm thinking of getting a Kindle, but, does that mean I can only buy my E-Books from Amazon?

Pete

no, I use online free library. In fact I think you'll find your local library might rent you books. My local library loans them but you need the Overdrive Kindle app installed.
I also use calibre to convert formats.
I recommend the wifi voyage. You can always tether to your phone.

Many thanks for your help Peter

I had no idea you wasn't limited to amazon... something new i've learnt today and off to investigate calibre thingy:D

Good to know isn't it Cg_Girl, have gone for it, ordered a Paperwhite off Amazon. It has the back light so I can read in bed whilst wifey sleeps.

Make sure you get a case, an e-reader is a take anywhere type device, and imho it definitely needs a case of some description. I wouldnt bother with an official case as they are pretty expensive. Got mine in tescos for £10 and pretty happy with it.

On the case front I got a cheapie neoprene one off ebay.
My Kindle (an old one now with a keyboard) -I don't think they do them any more), after coming back from Spain my screen no longer worked, there was some internet chatter at the time that the airport scanners were destroying Kindles.
Amazon were very slick replacing it and not had any problems since, was advised to place it on top clearly visible so they don't need to turn up the scanner to identify it.
I don't know if this is an urban myth, but its worked so far.

My local library has a growing selection of e-books which I can download for free.
