On my old style Kiev back the film magazine no longer fits into place properly. The magazine slides in but does not click into place like it should, have searched for a solution on the net and in the back but cannot find anything, Anyone got any ideas? (long shot)

does it matter which way round you put it in..

yes it does, just looked at the manual.

Its kinda hard to figure out what the process of loading entails from the manual, y'know the clicks and noises of the clips locks and interlocks, but it looks like that rotary handle operates the lock that holds the film carrier in the back.
You need to have a look and see what that handle does/is supposed to do, and if there is anything in the back that it interacts with..
 
The handle un uncovers part of the hole at the end which supposedly clicks into the 'key'(?) at the other end of the back (the far end where the magazine slots in) and this seems to function fine (technical language should probably be used here). I honestly am stumped as visually there seems nothing amiss with the back (i.e. Nothing to prevent it slotting in as usual)...
 
thats a bit odd, I'd have a play but my only not full back is broken and won't advance :D

they can be had on ebay for sensible moneys though

Lol, can't beat a Kiev! How much have you paid on ebay? I haven't seen any for <£20ish but aren't sure how much I should be paying.
