Well it happened.
I was called into the Freeman hospital on the 30 January and had a ten and half hour operation to transplant a new kidney and panreas on the 31 January. Everything has gone well up to this point and after three weeks in hospital they finally let me go home.
I am still very weak after the op and I have been told to rest for a further three months but I'm finding it really difficult and frustrating that I can't just grab my camera and go out and take a few photographs.
Galaxy66 (Mal) visited me in hospital and formulated a plan with the conscent of my wife which entails Mal offering to drive me to the location and even carry my kit.
This man is a scholar and a gent. :D
Nice one Mal and thank you for being such a good friend.

wowzers, that's a hell of an operation there, glad to hear you're doing well. Take it easy!

Good luck with the transplant. My wife is awaiting one so we know what you have been through.

Great news :D A very good friend of mine has just had her second liver a few weeks ago, so I've got a pretty good idea of what you and yours have been going through. Hope you recovery continues

Hope you carry on making a full recovery. It's a great plan and I can imagine being stuck inside would wear a bit thin after awhile so hopefully will make things easier.
Perhaps its time to get into the world of macro if you haven't already as there are loads of photo opportunities around the house when the boredom finally sets in!

bloody hell !!!

hope you make a full and speedy recovery

all the very best

Congrats man you'll be out and togging before you know it :)

hope you get well soon and good one on Galaxy ,he sounds like a real good friend :clap:

Well done mate
Regards, Alan.

Take it easy and concentrate on your recovery. Best wishes.

Hope you're soon feeling groovy again. All the best.

Wishing you a speedy recovery:thumbs:
I clicked on your post with a bit of trepidation, I thought it was going to be photogrpahs of an operation for C&C :D

Glad you're feeling well Gavin. My brother had a kidney transplant a fear years ago. After the initial recovery it changed his life. It was amazing to see how well he looked.
You take care mate and try not o rush it.

Kev.

Wishing you a speedy recovery; and hope what ever caused this to be necessary is now in the past.

I'd heard about your operation, Garvin, and I'm glad to hear you are out of hospital now.

Don't let Mal drag you round too much.. I think you might end up carrying HIS bags!! :D

Well done mate, glad to hear your doing well, been following your progress on face book.

Hope you get out and about for a a bit of fresh air soon it will make all the difference.
Just DONOT over do things, i know you will want to been there done that and suffered the consequences, so take it easy and just enjoy it a little at a time

Spike

Good to hear you are doing well :)

Think this thread belongs in OOF rather than talkP. moving...

Great news matey

Blimey, these operations must be one hell of a thing to go through just on their own, notwithstanding being done concurrently...!
Onwards and upwards with regards to you making a recovery, and the speed to it is as fast as it can be :)

....Perhaps its time to get into the world of macro if you haven't already as there are loads of photo opportunities around the house when the boredom finally sets in!
Great idea

Hmmm... I don't suppose they gave you the old bits in specimen jars (j/k). What a 'unique' set of macro/close-ups that lot would make! lol! :p :gag:

Wishing you a speedy, but chilled recovery.

Thanks to everyone for their kind words.

RBHD1 I think I might just try a little bit of macro photography over the next week or two. :D

MScotts I may have no specimen jars but perhaps a photograph of the 18 in scar and the holes where the 94 staples sat might be a good idea. :gag:

Best wishes

Garv

Garvin, I am definitely NOT taking that pic for you:D

:bat:

And don't worry folks I will take good care of him if and when Pam allows me to take him out:).

Wishing you all the best for an uneventful and speedy recovery. Just take it easy and take one day at a time. Maybe you could brush up on your PP skills (if you need to, that is!) if you have lots of time on your hands, maybe try some new techniques

Glad the OP went well but don't push yourself too hard!

I'd suggest using it as a reason to try something new, I keep meaning to start a project "Photos from my car". Purely to try and push myself to take good shots from my car window. Why not try the same? :)

Congratulations on the major operation, delighted to hear that you are home and I hope your recovery continues with no complications.
