Edit My Images
Yes
Ok, so a late start for me - I had an unfortunate accident in the first week of January that resulted in a severed tendon in my right hand. As you can imagine that made photography a little challenging...

Anyway, I have managed to get some images together for the first two themes and will hopefully be back on track by the end of this week! I am determined to try some new styles of shooting and processing this year, so some of the shots may not be to everyones taste. That said I welcome any comments because I want to use this as a learning experience.

Week 1: Curved

So, my fiance and I are expecting our first child in April, I thought this was a fitting subject! She insisted I use a version with booties present to ensure that its clear where her flat stomach has gone. I have tried to create avibrant, high key effect in PP, I know that one of the booties has slightly blown out but I was pleased with it nonetheless. Hopefully you don't all think I overcooked it!

Week 2: Poetry

I have to admit that this week is a slight cheat in that I didn't take the image during the timeframe. I have been helping my Mum produce a website to do with some work on restoring a local war memorial she's involved in. I found this image I took a while ago in my archive and did a fair bit of processing on it to punch it up a bit (by y standards anyway). I felt this was an acceptable compromise given that my right hand is immobilised and how hard it was taking the first image of this challenge. (I'm under Dr's orders to not use my right arm at all.)

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders Fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders Fields.

- John McCrae

Cheers,

Kris

Hi Kris and welcome to the 52.
I hope your hand's better now and congratulations to you and your fiancee!

Lovely idea for the curved shot and hat's certainly one to treasure.
Great idea with the little booties too
On the whole the effect that you went for works well for me - there's just a bit on the side of the booty on the right and the curve of her tummy below it that look a bit too bright on my monitor. I'm losing them against the white background.

Week 2 is an absolute stunner!
A beautiful, beautiful shot and a perfect fit for the poem.

hello and welcome along , two really nice images to start with the only thing i could comment on is the little boot on the right doesn't stand out enough looks a little lost against the background ,the second image is spot on really like the image ,looking forward to seeing a few more ,andy

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I've tweaked the brightness and contrast levels of the first shot a little so hopefully its better now. Off to work on weeks 3 & 4...

Hi Kris, better late than never!

I love both of these photos. A very unusual take on curved and I prefer the tweaked version. I just love the poppies photo and it matches the poem beautifully.

Well done and I hope your hand is better now. Look forward to seeing more from you.

Jenny

Great start - your edit of your fiancee is much better now. The poppy shot is very good and perfectly matches the poem.

:clap::clap:

I hope your hand is improving, and that your fiancee is keeping well

Hi there and welcome to the 52 madhouse! :)

I'm sorry to hear about your severed tendon - that sounds as though it might take a while to heal - I hope I'm wrong.

Anyway, well done on getting started (and congratulations to you and your finacee on impending parenthood). I like curved - and the edit works really well. Is the blue (rather than pink) bootee significant? :)

Week 2: A lovely poem and very well illustrated by your photo. I like the fact that the clouds are heavy in contrast to the summery look of the field and the poppies.

Jean

Thank you!

It will likely take a while, I should be functional again in 4-6 weeks but up to six months to be fully back to normal. Marvellous.

The blue is indeed significant, we're expecting a little boy!

Thanks again, that was where I did a lot of the processing, glad you like it!
