Hi,

Just wondered if anyone has been to Kenya on a photographic-oriented safari? I went about 5 years ago on a cheap and cheerful trip but the game drives weren't in the best types of vehicles and were a bit short. I'm looking to do a "proper" photographic safari, led by a pro. Exodus do one, led by Paul Goldstein and there are a few others I've seen but I wondered if anyone has any first-hand experience of one?

I don't mind going outside of peak migration season (thinking June this year maybe) to keep costs down.

Cheers
Mark

I have meet both and can highly recommend David Lloyd, a gentle giant. I done his Big cats safari staying at the Entim Camp. I will definitely go back.
The first time I meet Paul I found him to be the sergeant major type but when I see him at Mara Watch he didn't come across like that.
I's not just me thinking that he even admits it himself. They both are good and will get you results with good guides.

Thanks for tips guys, appreciated. Kim - just been having a look through your website - some great shots in there. Out of curiosity, what time of year did you go to Kenya, and if it was earlier in the year, how was the weather? Cheers

Mark I went in March 2014 there was plenty to see, but it did rain, even though I didn't get some of the shots I wanted, I still got shots I wouldn't have.
Lions in the rain look good as well. Wildlife Trails is also meant to be good, It's run by Sarah Skinner and guided by Jackson Looseyia from Big Cat Diary.
I have a pdf on it, just send me an email and you can have a copy.
I like your website as well I have Foxes and Hares on list next

We went in January 2011 for our honeymoon and there was loads of wildlife around - saw all of the big 5. Wasn't a photography safari, but letting you know for time of year!

there was a guy on here, who worked for some safari company,
he went on and apparently brought his own game reserve,
I think it was in Kenya, and was going to do some deals for us, but haven't heard from him for a long time.
up to 12 months ago.
I have lost his details, shame as I would love to put a safari on a to do list.

Went in Novemer 2010. Saw all the big 5 apart from a Leapord. The highlight was the Cheetah with cubs.

Poor shots of it but it was great to see.

I'm actually going on David Lloyd's Big cat safari next month, the same as Kimo.

I'm a complete amateur who's only just taking photos out of auto and I often mess that up, but hoping to enjoy myself even though i'll be the poor relation.

Have a brilliant time. I looked at doing this trip but was too late and it was already fully booked. I'd love to hear how you get on when you're back. I eventually settled on the Exodus trip with Paul Goldstein, going at end of June.
