Critique required Kell's 52 for 25 - Week 51 and 52.

I really like the shot Kell...not sure how abstract it is, but you're right, very evocative.
 
I like the sax keys. You should have be kept one for this week.

Great ! I like the way the B&W has brought attention to the figure and not let the lighting equipment distract
 
Week 50 - PAST

Many of you will be familiar with the 'OXO Tower' in it's current form. However, it's had not one, but two PAST lives.

I put 'OXO' in quotes as those aren't letters that spell OXO, they're windows that just so happen to look like they spell OXO.

Apparently.

First PAST life:

The building was originally constructed as a power station to supply electricity to the Royal Mail post office, built towards the end of the 19th century.

Second PAST life:

It was subsequently acquired by the Liebig Extract of Meat Company (Lemco) in the 1920s, manufacturers of Oxo beef stock cubes, for conversion into a cold store.[1][2]

The building was largely rebuilt to an Art Deco design by company architect Albert Moore between 1928 and 1929. Much of the original power station was demolished, but the river-facing facade was retained and extended. Lemco wanted to include a tower featuring illuminated signs advertising the name of their product. When permission for the advertisements was refused, the tower was built with four sets of three vertically-aligned windows, each of which "coincidentally" happened to be in the shapes of a circle, a cross and a circle. This was significant because skyline advertising was banned at the time along Southbank.[3]

Few options including a much wider pano - but I prefer the tower being the main focus hence going with the final version. Plus, anyone that's seen my shots over the past year since we moved offices will have seen a variation of that shot all too often.

All on a Sony A7i with Minolta manual lenses. First one is a pano from a 100/2.5 and the rest are using a 35/1.8.

Chose the final one as I've colour corrected it to be a bit nearer how I remember the colouring. They all came in very orange - which adds a bit of drama, but isn't really accurate.

I know it well. Nicley shot and great for the theme :)
 
they are gorgeous photos with fantastic colours, you pick is the best IMO.

That’s very kind. Lucky to work where I do in that respect. On the other hand spending almost 4 hours a day commuting isn’t great.

Thanks. I do like the old Minolta lenses for their colour rendition.
 
Loving your high contrast shot Kell, is it a stylized monkey? Or a lion?

Your night shots of the Oxo building are all fantastic.

I think that it’s a Lion. Normally in Chinese celebrations you tend to have Dragons or Lions so I made the assumption.
 
Week 51 - Reflections in glass.

Cards on the table- this is an earlier shot taken not for this theme, but I've been up and down the country over Christmas (Northumberland, North Devon, Bournemouth) and not had time to shoot anything new for the theme.

Two good shots.

I really like "Life will find a way". "Smoke and Mirrors" makes my knees hurt!
 
As Paul said two good shots and agree re the knee reference - wonder who had to stand up first
