Critique required Kell's 2023 TP52 - WEEK 52. Shots(s) of the year.

Week 1. Local.

We’re filming a TVC and needed to shoot in sunlight. So it needed to not be in OUR AREA.

After much to-ing and fro-ing about possible locations to guarantee sun, (including Argentina, South Africa or the Canary Islands) we flew to Madrid as we were told there are always blue skies - even in January. Only to be faced with three days of rain and freezing temperatures.

Took this after a long day of trying to get a bus interior to look like sunset in the Med despite it p***ing down and being 0 degrees.

Taken on an iPhone.

A great viewpoint, and an interesting backstory. It still beats an office on an industrial estate outside Hemel Hempstead.

Nice bit of wetdown Kell :)

Love it, great colours and composition. Makes me want to go out in the rain so well done.

Yeah, that's a cracker! Love the green reflection, the bike heading towards us, twice the size of the car next to them, under the arch of the traffic lights.

Nicely done!

Love the green reflections, they take you into the picture. Love it.

Great angle Kell, making the most of the tiny wet road and reflections!

Great shot Kell! Love the colours and the POV.

Great start to the challenge. Love the pov and the light on the tarmac.

Really nice, almost a magazine image. Great colours and the wet road gives lovely reflections. I'm intrigued as to whether the cyclist realised you were they and went round you or not.

WEEK 02 - UNFINISHED.

Currently have this still sitting on the dining room table after the Christmas break.

Was unsure about the angle. One I shot with the light directly behind to deliberately try and ensure there's no problems with copyright - i.e. you can't see the pieces.

But then I also quite like the colour of the other one.

In the end - I went with colour.

I think the colour's the better of the two for me. The other feels like it has too much out of focus.

The colour with the tighter crop seems to have more in focus, the two adjacent missing pieces work well, and the angle is nice too. Colours pop nicely too with the black underneath.

They are both great pictures that really suit the theme, hope it doesn't take you too long to solve. I can't help myself but hide a piece when I see someone working on a jigsaw :ROFLMAO:

Thanks.

Like a numpty, I’ve posted the wrong one in the main thread.

Despite saying, I’ve gone with the colour one, I then didn’t do that.

Nice Jigsaw shots - and yeah the colour :)

Two good image Kell, I prefer the first one. The second lacks a point of focus for me.

Colour for me as well. Brilliant photo works really well.

I like the first image, the colours just pop nicely. My wife also does a few jigsaws at Christmas so that's a familiar scene for me :)

Definitely the colour version, works really well with the light.

Week 03 - ARTIFICIAL

I normally cycle to work and as part of my route I do a couple of laps around the Outer Circle of Regent's Park. The real beauty of this is that you very often get to see the giraffes from the road. Partly because they're tall, and partly because where they are is a break in the high hedges and a gate that allows you pretty much unobstructed views.

There's almost always someone stopped there to take pics or to just stare.

But....

Opposite that gate, is another, And the cherry picker they have is painted to look like a giraffe. Which I've always thought is genius and to me makes a perfect subject for this week.

Unfortunately, it was impossible to get a photo without something in the way, but these were my two favourite ARTIFICAL giraffes...

Great idea Kell, the paintwork made me laugh.

Good spot and raised a smile here. Looks like the location was a real challenge!
