Yes
It's an age old question and one without a one-size-fits-all answer, I know. I'm off to Nepal tomorrow afternoon and staying in Kathmandu for four days to escape work for our Eid break.

It's the monsoon season at the moment so I'm guessing photography will be limited to the few breaks during the day in the rain, but I won't let that put me off and want to explore and photograph as many of the sights and people as possible.

Bag wise, I'll be taking a ThinkTank Urban Disguise 50 - this is a shoulder bag with easy access (for me only) and plenty of room.

Body wise, I'm just taking the D3. My next question is what to take with lenses.

I have pretty much everything covered when it comes to focal length from 14-400mm. I won't be taking my 400mm 2.8 - that's going too far, however my questions is, what would be in your kit bag between the following lenses;

- 14-24 2.8
- 24-70 2.8
- 35mm 1.4
- 60mm 2.8 (Macro)
- 85mm 1.4
- 70-200 2.8
- 1.7x TC
- 2x TC
- SB910

What I want to avoid is taking too much and having to carry it with my all day, weighing down my bag. I have a Lee filter kit which will come with, and for this I only have a 77mm filter holder, so this wouldn't suite the 14-24 or 35mm.

I'm swaying to leave the 14-24 as I'm getting bored of "ultra wide" shots. I want to take the 35mm as it's a beautiful lens but worry that I'll keep the 24-70 on the body for most of the shots?

I think I'll take the 85mm and 70-200mm also and maybe the 1.7x TC.

What should I be taking/leaving?

I think i would go with your list

D3 defo
24-70 defo
35mm is cover by the above,do you feel you're going to need F1.4 ?
70-210
85mm is cover by the above again do you feel you will need F1,4 ?

and so on
The kit i would take for the sort of shots i am taking theses days
D3
24-70mm
35mm
85mm

If you feel your going to need longer lens, add the 70-710 x 1.7

Have a good trip :)

Under no illusion it's going to be dry - I was prepared for the wet and hope it may lead to some interesting photos. Not heading to Pokhora so no mountain vistas for me (unless the clouds clear long enough to show the tops surrounding the valley).

Bag packed and managed to get in the D3, 24-70, 85mm 1.4 and 70-200mm and 1.7TC. I have the 35mm on standby ready to take but think it may be an extravagance.
