Im a bit annoyed with myself that I didn’t notice these on the Kase stand at the photography show on Sunday.

I’ve picked up the 95mm revolution filters to use with the Nikon 14-30 f4 lens. I’d noticed Kase recommend the 95mm filter size so I got the 95mm set with the 82mm to 95mm adapter. The only issue is the lens hood can’t be used with the 95mm adapter fitted.

I’ve now noticed they do the 95mm Kanopy metal hoods with 82mm adapter. Does anyone have one of these? If you do what do you think of it?

Can you fit the 95mm lens cap on the kanopy adapter ring with the kanopy hood in place or does the kanopy hood have to stay on all the time?

I’m wondering if it’s possible for me to buy the kanopy 95mm with 85mm lens hood set and get a standard 67mm to 82mm step up ring to use with the 82mm to 95mm adapter ring i bough so i can use the 95mm set on the 24-200 Z lens I also have. I could then swap the kanopy hood setup between the two lenses when/if needed too.

I’d sent questions via email to Kase last night and considering they are still at the photography show they’ve already answered my questions by 0730 this morning!

The lens cap does fit on to the kanopy adapter ring without the lens hood in place which as great,

Stock of the new pinch caps (supplied in the newer ‘plus’ 95mm kit are coming in a few weeks so I’m going to hold off buy the universal lens cap as the new pinch caps are much easier to use.

Excellent customer service by Kase.

The Kase kanopy lens hood that I ordered has arrived.

Initial thoughts are that the lens cap doesn’t work like the normal Kase magnetic adapter rings as I hoped. Sadly the kanopy hood lens hood adapter rings isn’t magnetic. This means the lens hood can’t be removed and a lens cap held in place magnetically to the lens hood adapter ring. It seems the adapters aren’t magnetic as it would impede the turning of the CPL ring.

A simple solution would be a plastic lens cap that fits over the kanopy lens hood adapter ring like Lee filters offer. The other option would be to have a kanopy lens hood for every lens.

When checking my lenses the Nikon 24-200 doesn’t seem to have any vignette in the corners caused by the lens hood. There is some corner vignette on the Nikon 14-30 under 17mm, which is to be expected when it’s a universal lens hood.

I need to do more testing to see if using more than one filter causes any corner vignette on either lens.

Otherwise it’s the normal Kase quality. Whether the lens hood is worth the extra over the normal magnetic adapter rings I’m not sure. I guess it’s personal preference. I can see me keeping the lens hood on one lens and the normal magnetic adapter rings on the other. As both are 82mm threads and I got the Kase 67mm to 82mm step up ring I can swap everything easily between the two lenses when I want to.

Another good thing I’ve found is the 95mm inlay ring fits inside the 400mm f4.5 lens and the Nikon lens cap can fit as normal. That means I can use the Kase 95mm magnetic filters when I want and still use the normal Nikon lens cap.
