Yes
I have been talking with a model regarding a shoot she would like to do (TFP). She basically says she'd like it Karate themed as that is a big passion of hers. Just looking for some ideas. One we both came up with is her posing on top of a cliff her white Gi against the blue sky (weather permitting)

So would appreciate any other ideas..... especially if you know of a Japanese garden in Essex :-)

Where did I see the shot of a boxer in several different moves overlaid.

Kinda Matrix style

How's about strapping a practice pad to a wooden post or similar (with some flexibility or it could end bad) get her to give it a full on side kick, take the shot from infront getting her foot/ankle deep into the pad and the concentration on her face, should be quite dramatic, come to think of it I may try that with my 10yr old.

If your not familiar with karate, do a search on Flickr/Google etc to see the kata stances etc, there are a few from NWKA tournament on mine.

You have pm, only because I don't want to give away the answer to the Out of Focus thread running at the moment :D

I don't know if you have high kicks in Karate but a high side kick held in position is quite a nice photographic pose or any jumping kick (im from a TKD background myself hence the focus on spectacular kicking).

they do indeed have high kicks, think TKD with less overall kicks and more punches basically. Loads of really good action shots, and posed stances, especially from the Kata.

Nice idea, but a bit hackneyed. Probably been done before, but a beach with the wind blowing, streamers in the wind - but that's probably more chinese style ... or splitting a watermelon ..
