The TP52 - 2026 KanePhotos' 52 for 2026

Lovely line leading the eye up and in. This is a good shot Kane really well exposed and edited.

That is nice ;)

Lovely image.

Where was this taken?
I'm based in Latvia at the moment, this is the staircase of the Riga Art Nouveau Center. I was having a wonder round in my lunch break today thinking of this theme. I had visited this staircase before so when I walked by the building I had this idea and hoped it was unlocked. I did have a slight issue with the lights turning off as they're on a sensor so I had to keep moving!

I love everything about this and the fact it's not circular with the flat side and off kilter angle really works.

Nice!

I like that, although it's full of lines and angles, the dominant shapes make that less obvious. I reckon you've hit framing there too, with the lower loop framing the upper parts.

Excellent! As others have said, I think you really nailed the framing.

I was having a debate if this would count as hitting the 'framing' technique. The reason I didn't say this was I guess the frame itself is the subject rather than actually 'framing' something. This isn't say a window shot framing a landscape, or a tunnel framing a person. If we say this is a frame the centre is actually quite 'boring'. My favourite part of the image is the light on the loop leftmost.

It's a great image.

I think you could argue that it's 'framing' but that would mean admitting that the the light was your subject and I don't think that's the case here. You've got ages to nail the technique anyway, so something else will present itself. Or it won't.

I 'completed' the 52 last year without claiming any of the techniques.

Nice one, great perspective

Well, it may not have (much) rust, but it had decay in spades. I would avoid walking too close to that building!

I like it!

Good spot ;)

Very nice. Could be a murder novel cover.

I think I would be tempted to crop the top.

Good work.

I think you're right, I hadn't thought of it till I scrolling the forum and scrolled past it with just the bottom half remaining. I think it becomes much more mysterious almost with the top third gone.

Really like your rust and decay shot Kane, that's my kind of building to shoot.

Your windows/doors shot is a really creative take on the theme, well done.

That's a neat trick with the gelled light, took me a while to figure it out, but nice! Red always seems to make things that little bit more ambiguous.

Hello again all, this week I have got two options. I don't love either - my favourite didn't work as well on screen as I hoped based on the LCD (how many times have we all said that!)

The one I'm submitting is this, with plants breaking through the glass. Hope that meets the theme! I got some very cold knees taking it.

Week 4 - Something Broken

My alternate image for those of you that made it to this thread is below. The problem was all the potential backgrounds were so busy which has forced me into a really tight crop which I don't love. Should have picked the bath up and moved it! A more natural interpretation of the theme.
