Hi :wave:

Been lurking around for a while now but went to my first photography club meeting tonight. There were so many amazing old style cameras there and quite a few members use film. I was intrigued and would like to find out a bit more so hopefully you wont mind me being in here asking daft questions :)
 
Welcome to the dark side :) There is no such thing as a daft question, only daft answers :) There is a wealth of knowledge in here so i'm sure your questions will be answered :)
 
Daft questions we can probably answer, but if you start getting clever you might be on your own.. .. :lol:

If you want to have a go with any of my kit see if film's for you then feel free to let me know, I understand your not a million miles away :thumbs:
 
I rarely even glance beyond the film section of these boards any more.

Shooting film seems to filter out a lot of the less serious toggers. The cameras and lenses can be a gamble due to their age and unknown histories - but are definitely worth it. Plus the cost of developing and printing films, the delays, the lack of instant feedback. It seems to draw slightly more patient and knowledgeable camera monkeys.

I'm amazed daily at the depth and breadth of knowledge some of the users in this section possess.

Also there are a lot of pretty pictures posted that make me go :O

Welcome to the best section of the forum! I went to my local camera club with my FM2n and a Bronica ETRS and they looks at me like I was from the dark ages!

I'm wondering that with all the photography forums there are out there how we have ended up on the same one? Thank you for the offer, might take you up on that :thumbs:

In that case please allow me to welcome the woman who got me interested in Photography in the first place :wave:, you're a very welcome addition here :thumbs:

I've got plenty of 35mm cameras to choose from, so we're bound to find something that'll entice you over to the dark world of non conformity and funny smelling chemicals. :thumbs:
 
Aww thanks, although I can't take all the credit. Although I am slightly envious that I started the trend and you somehow ended up better at it than me :lol:

Don't worry we'll whip you into shape on this forum - there's nothing like getting your pics slated in the critique sections to make you work at it, plus theres plenty of advice on hand with whatever you may struggle with or whatever. :thumbs:

I'm in the Prestatyn club, was the first night last night so don't remember many names yet. Possibly though as there was a good turn out.

Oh it's all my fault is it?! haa!
 
Ah right I think Dave's in the Conwy one, not 100% as I forget these most things!

He shoots Nikon too and is always up for meets etc, he only lives in Conwy too. :thumbs:
 
Excellent. Got an old Nikon film camera somewhere......must dig it out tomorrow and start my tyrade of daft questions :D

Welcome. I too enjoy F&C significantly more than any other part of TP.

Will try dig out the film camera today at some point. Still living out of boxes so need to hunt it out. When we were moving I saw it and thought "why have we still got this old thing?" - I'm very glad I didn't put it in the charity shop box now :D

Hello! I'm from Rhyl, too. Well, I actually live in Gwespyr now, which is just up the road :) Where is the Prestatyn club held?
 
It's held in Ty-Pendre community centre. It looks like public toilets lol! I think that is what it use to be. Feb 9th at 7.30 is the next one :)
