Scenario is . . .

Camera - 5d2
Lens to be used - 85 f1.8 and 135 f2
Location - indoors, church and house (not a wedding!), groups (max 6) and individuals.

I just don't shoot in doors, always outside, mostly landscapes. Don't possess a flash . . . Family event I cannot get out of - soooo I need to buy a flash gun to suit the cam and lens.

I can't face trawling though pages and pages - can someone just tell me what I need to get. Please :)

Thanks!

Rog

Bang for buck and only occasional use, what about a nissin Dixxx

groups of 6? a wider lens and a flash :) 85 and you'll have to be a fair distance away...

Would be happy to be as far away as possible from them all - might use the 100-400 on max . . . Been practicing my 'talk' - not sure how well the phrase 'Smile you miserable bu**ers' will go down . . . My in - laws; and yes they are Mis B's . . .

No probs on using anything wider - got enough L gear to suit! Actually I think I have 50 1.8 lurking somewhere as well.

Is it necessary to buy? Could you borrow a flash?
Seems a shame to waste money if it won't be used after the day

To be honest, you might get away with no using a flash, set ISO to 3200, shoot at F2 (ish) and you should be ok. Having said that, it can get mighty dark indoors, so a 580ex2 would be a good start to rent/buy

You might get away without flash with a 5D2 and fast primes, at least in terms of exposure, but you'll never get enough depth of field to cover those groups.

So get yourself a decent E-TTL flash, Canon 580EX2 for preference - you should have one anyway. Then attach one of these to it - Lumiquest Quik Bounce £36 - and learn how to use it properly http://www.amazon.co.uk/LumiQuest-LQ-122-Lumiquest-Quick-Bounce/dp/B001X4BAB0 It does pretty much everything really very well, best flash accessory by miles. It will transform your results, indoors and out

If its only for occasional use then get a Nissin Di622, they can be picked up for around £109 at present and are a cracking Flashgun for the money.

If you have a little more money then the canon 430 ex ii is a good gun and can be found for around £200 if you shop around.

Either bounce the flash of the ceiling or get something like the smallish lumiquest soft box
