Well, looks like I'm committed!

Just put a big (for me) order in for film. Mostly Ektar 100 with a smattering of other 120 and 35mm for good measure. Hopefully will shoot it mostly in Iceland but I need and want to improve at this film (and photography regardless of medium) lark so am now going to shoot, shoot, shoot. Camera everywhere and shoot life in colour and B&W. I may even try and throw some film shots in with my wedding photography on the bits of the day when I already have the digital shots in the metaphorical bag.

Just thought I'd share for some reassurance by you like minded types that the outlay will not be wasted! I actually had a little sickly feeling when I clicked the buy button. Also, interestingly, Calumet is one of the cheapest suppliers of film that I could find. Only problem is Portra 400 (120) is on back order and they have no idea when it will be arriving so had to pay a little more for it from elsewhere.

You can't really go wrong with film as it's forgiving....but until you get used to it there will be some cockups, but then after shooting film all my life I still make the occasional throw in the bin shot because of camera control error or trying something that I'm the same as a newbie.

It's not the medium I need the help with, it's the interesting photo taking regardless of film or digital! Ha. And there's some less forgiving slide film in there for good measure!

Thanks. Yeah it should be an amazing trip. Nervous about it photographically but hopefully I will get at least one good photo from it! Also just sorted a 3 day road trip with my friend in his 1962 Austin Healey to France in April so that will need shooting along the way. Here it is on Velvia from last year....

Can I double like a post? Maybe triple like? Gorgeous, lovely Healey, from Somerset no less, looking not too shabby in the Velvia department as well. I think we all absolutely command and require you to enjoy Iceland thoroughly, and come back with lots of scrummy shots. :)

Haha, thank you. I have posted this before somewhere I think. It's a beautiful motor. My mate Rob is a detailer and takes fabulous care of this Healey. I've ben out in it and it's an absolute pleasure. He drove it to Monte Carlo a while back and promised me we would road trip in it so we are going to head to Bergerac in France over 3 days where he will leave the car and then fly home. It only seemed right to shoot it on film. Will hopefully document that road trip.
 
Pack your thermals then too, not sure how good the heaters in those would be (I've not driven a 3000, but my first car was the much cheaper Austin Healey Sprite Mk 2, the one after the bugeye but before external door handles... it was well ventilated but never warm).
 
Well, now it's started arriving I feel I may have over done it! :D Still waiting on the Ektar too! :confused:
