could someone please tell me what does S.L.R. in a camera mean please
 
i am thinking of buying the Cannon E.O.S 400 D, what are your views on this camera would like to get reply from someone who knows about Cameras thanks Maurice O Connor
 
The 400D is a cracking camera :) Has lots of potential to help you learn about photography, from the basics upto fully manual controls and everything in between. There are lots of people on here with 400D, I have a 350D (the model before the 400D) and it is just a really good camera :) Be warned though, once the photography bug bites you could end up spending more and more money on additions for the camera, such as extra lenses etc :p - but if you get the 400D with the 18-55 "kit lens" then you have an excellent starting point :thumbs:

My friend is tempted to buy an entry level D Slr. I think he wants to spend £300 ish. Can he get anything decent?
