I'm doing a landscape course with Steve Lewis over the next few months. The course is in North Wales, and we will probably be out in the rain a fair bit - how well sealed is my D300 likely to be ? What about lenses (particularly my Tokina 11-16) ?

its a good question and i dont have the answer but...... I have used sandwich bags and elastic bands in the past:bonk:

I don't have an answer either but despite it having better weather sealing than some other cameras I always go with the fact that water and electronic goods is never good. I've adopted the same approach as Dave but generally if its that wet then the camera doesnt make it out of the house!!

To be fair the camera may be better weather sealed than I give it credit for but I for one am not prepared to find out!! :)

You're pretty fine. If it's ****ing it down, you won't be taking photos anyway, so put it away in your backpack. In light rain it's fine.

Lens might be a bit more dodge, sandwich bags + tape onto the lens hood works well, take off the viewfinder eyepiece, put the sandwich bag over the whole camera, tape the hole around the lens hood, and tear a small hole for the viewfinder, and put the viewfinder eyepiece back on.

Well I have got my D300 wet and it worked (and still does) fine. I was shooting waterfalls and it was raining too. Not torrential but the steady drizzle that gets things soaking. I had my worries but they were unfounded as it was ok.

It was a Sigma 10-20 on the front by the way and that was ok too.
