Hi

Im new round here so thought id start to contribute.

This should probably be in the review section but its locked at the mo.

I've been looking for a decent every day bag since i upgraded to a 50d. I had a KATA 3n1 and a Lowepro Primus AW, both bags though excellent and very comfy didn't quite fit what i was after. I wanted a bag i could carry about every day that didn't look like a camera bag. My idea behind this was my camera can go every with me so rather than me going out to take photo's it would be with there if i saw an opportunity.

I had a good luck around and decided on the Muffin Top 7500. Ive just filled it with all my gear which is a gripped EOS 50d with Sigma 18-200 OS, Sigma 70-300 APO, Nifty Fifty, Speedlight 430EX, RS80N3 and some memory cards, spare battery's etc.

First impressions are very good, it fits all the gear comfortably and securely with "some" room to spare. Its definately my bag of choice at the moment.

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask

Nice, where did you get it from? I've been after a 4000 or 5500 but can't find them in stock anywhere.

Hi
I won it from a well known auction site, but the company is srsmicrosystems. They were excellent to deal with. I did get a bit twitchy when they said it was posted Tuesday but it still wasnt here today! The postie had tried to deliver it but i was out and didnt put a note through the door.

The bag isnt half as big as i expected, i was going to go for the 5500 but im really glad i didnt now.

Here are the sizes and the suggested bits you could get in:

Muffin Top 2500
External 22 x 16 x 14 cm;
Fits SLR with lens or video camera
and accessories

Muffin Top 3000

Fits SLR with 1 extra lens and accessories

Muffin Top 4000

I was looking at a 5500 as its been almost a month since I've bought a camera bag :s

Your photos do indeed look like I would be better served with the 7500 so thanks for posting

Yeah i found all the sizes, i assume they mean keeping the bodies and lenses separate. I wanted to keep mine gripped and with a lens on all the time. Its a cracking bag though.

Hmmm... I think it's the 5500 for me. Great first-ish post Euan BTW!

Your Welcome! Glad it was useful to someone

Excelant, and many thanks for posting this as been looking at these for the same reasons you went for one. I was waiting for the 5500 to be released but as you have said it didn't seem as big as you thought it would be, I may aswell go for the 7500:)

Cheers Euan, I've had an order for the 5500 at Warehouseexpress for nearly a month now. Phoned them up and they do not know when they will get any stock! Looks a quality product. Think I'll end up going with srsmicrosystems to get one.

I see they have couple listed on that well known auction site, i think it works out a couple of quid cheaper than going through their site as well. Cant fault their service or the bag.

Checked with srsmicrosystems, they just have the colours listed on their eBay page, I was after the olive 5500 :(

Thats a pity eh, i must have been lucky then because i was after a red one!

Got my Crumpler 5500 through the other day. It's a lot smaller than I thought. I've got my 40d with 35 1.4 attached and 10-22, plus charger, cables etc. Thought that I would have room for a 70-200 F4 IS in future months, but not sure if it will fit. For those of you undecided between the 5500/7500, definately get the larger one.

I've been looking at getting this bag, but I can't find an actual shop that stocks them so I can have a look! Having seen some of the other crumpler range, and seen how much smaller they are in real life, I'd like to see one before buying! Does anyone know of any bricks-and-mortar shops that stock them?

Chris

What size do you think would be best for a Sony A200, Gorillapod SLR with Manfrotto 484RC2 ballhead and a few filters?

It was one of the reasons i did the post, when you look at it online it looks HUGE! and i thought about getting the 5500 but thought id see what this one was like. Its starting to get very full already but i really cant fault it.

"Any by this, it means 2 ungripped consumer dSLR's, and 4 x 50mm f/1.8"

Its getting quite full but i think its really good and comfy to wear. Cant fault it and i was lucky i was after a red one!

What's it like to walk around with? Loaded up it seems kinda chunky (if you know what I mean) but when you're snapping does the bag remain quite chunky with the gear you're carrying? I've been on the lookout for a messenger bag for a while now but would prefer something a bit flatter if you know what I mean.

I've used mine on a 16hour shoot and barely noticed it. As its not very big you can't really get enough into it to make it overly heavy & the strap is comfy.

I am after a new shoulder bag and wondering if all my kit would fit.
I've emailed srsmicrosystems and ask them if it would possible for me to take my kit over and see if it all fits and provided it does, I'd be happy to pay COD.
I know Watford quite well so if they agree I will let you guys know the outcome.

Thanks for the review Euan and also thanks to Gadgetman for pointing out this thread to me.

I've now googled them and it seems like they are retailer based in Watford.
I have never heard of them before but checking out the bag shouldn't be a problem

I really like the muffin, especially in red, but the loyal chap is also quite good.

Just bought a 7500 today to replace my Lowepro Rezo 160. Love the looks, plenty of space inside for my kit (450d, 17-55 IS USM, Sigma 10-20 and 50 1.8) plus various accesories. I think I'd even be able to get my netbook in there too at a push (would not do this often). Crucially it'll fit another lens as well for future upgrades which will probably be a 70-200 f4 IS in the next 6 months.

And the best thing is it doesn't look at all like a camera bag to the casual observer.

Sorry to dig this out after a couple of months, but im looking at this bag for my very streamlined kit now.
Does it hold a 530 flash stood upright ??

Ta

Do you mean your 580EX flash? In which case yes.

I just bought one from WEX yesterday, black and mustard £65, for the streamlined version of my kit - camera, three lenses, big flash. Still plenty of room for phone, Pani compact, i-Pod etc etc.

I think it's going to be a very good choice. For such a relatively simple bag, it has been very well thought out in ways you don't appreciate at first.

And I'm really looking forward to having a break from the zips-and-pockets-fest that is Lowepro ;)

No, i meant the all new not been released yet 530 !!

Yes, the 580, thanks for that, its just i got one on order and forgot how bloomin tall it is.
The bag is only going to store a 5D Mkii, 24-105, nifty fifty and the flash.

LOL That outfit will fit a treat. Camera will go in lens down. That's how I've got my 40D 17-55mm f/2.8, with 580EX at the other end. Nifty in the middle with your sarnies and drink :)

Lovely outfit BTW - what more do you honestly need for most things? And this Crumpler really does not look like a camera bag.

Im glad this thread is still proving useful! after a couple of months with my crumpler i still absolutely love it. Its amazing with some nifty packing what you can get in as well.

ive currently got a gripped 50d+17-85 attached, 70-300 IS, 10-22, 430 ex, nifty fifty all with hoods. Some Cokin P Filters, spare batteries (lots), memory cards, lens pen, water proof camera cover.

Its definately my best bag by a long shot.

Sounds like there's plenty of room! I'm getting very tempted by this.

I have a Lowepro bag at the moment and there are just way to many zips and pockets! I need something simple where I can quickly grab what I need and carry on.

Ive got a kata 3n1 which is very good for walking etc, but when i use it i really miss the easy access of the crumpler.

I had a crumpler about a year ago but due to having more kit than time to use it i felt the need to buy a Lowepro.
But now i not got as much i need a smaller bag and the crumplers just look right.

managed to get mine from we-sell-crumpler for £60 delivered.

Plenty of space in there for a 450D with 17-55 attached and hood reversed.

Do you think I could fit a 5D MKII, 70-200 2.8 IS, 24-105, 50 1.4 and a flash in there? Or is that going to be a bit too squashed?! I'd keep one lens on the camera, most likely the 24-105.

I reckon you probably could. The 70-200 would fit where my 10-20 is, the other little canon in my pic is a 50 1.8 and the flash would go where I've put the fliters and cokin holder. You'd have to be ruthless with what you put in the front pouch.

How does the 24-105 compare in size to the 17-55?
